Here’s How Much Prize Money the Proteas Won After ICC Test Championship Victory Over Australia
The Proteas not only made history with their first major ICC tournament victory since 1998, but also secured a massive payday after defeating Australia in the ICC World Test Championship final at Lord’s on Saturday.
South Africa clinched the title by five wickets after four thrilling days of cricket, with Temba Bavuma’s men outplaying Pat Cummins’ Australian side to claim the coveted Test crown.
R65 Million in Prize Money for Proteas After WTC Triumph
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced before the final that the winners of the match would walk away with a $3.6 million prize — approximately R65 million. This figure is more than double the amount awarded to the winners of previous editions.
The prize will be split between the Proteas playing squad and coaching staff, rewarding the entire team for their monumental achievement.

The runners-up, Australia, will also receive a hefty cheque of $2.1 million (R38 million), still a major upgrade from previous years.
