Horror Karoi-Binga Road Accident Claims 4 Family Members, 15 Passengers Injured
A devastating road accident claimed the lives of four members of the same family when their Ford Ranger collided head-on with a Honda Fit along the Karoi-Binga Road on Sunday evening, 15 June 2025.
The crash happened around 6 PM, about 25 kilometres from Karoi. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident in a statement released the following day.
Police Confirm the Incident and Provide Details
According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Ford Ranger had seven passengers, while the Honda Fit was carrying two people. The collision left four people dead at the scene and 15 others badly injured.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 15th June 2025 at 1800 hours at the 25 kilometre peg along Karoi-Binga Road, where a Ford Ranger vehicle with seven passengers on board collided head-on with a Honda Fit vehicle carrying two passengers. As a result, four people died on the spot, while 15 others were seriously injured,” part of the statement reads.

Karoi-Binga Road Accident Kills 4 Family Members
All four victims who lost their lives were members of the Matonde family from Dixie Farm in Magunje.
“The victims who died in the accident have been identified by their next of kin as listed:- Eunice Matonde (13), a female juvenile from Dixie Farm, Magunje, Debra Matonde (8), a female juvenile from Dixie Farm, Magunje, Letwin Matonde (3), a female juvenile from Dixie Farm, Magunje and Juliet Matonde (32), a female adult from Dixie Farm, Magunje,” the statement further reads.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Karoi District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, and the injured were referred to the same hospital for treatment. In concluding the statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police implored motorists to exercise caution on the roads and avoid overloading vehicles to safeguard human lives.
