Kaizer Chiefs Fan Favorite Player Set to Leave the Club?
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo may be on his way out of Naturena just months after signing a contract extension, as doubts over his future continue to grow within the club’s technical team.
The 31-year-old Venezuelan midfielder made an immediate impact in his debut season with five goals from midfield in 32 appearances, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
However, a broken fibula derailed his second campaign, restricting him to just seven appearances for the 2023/24 season.

Mixed Reviews Cast Doubt on Castillo’s Role Under New Coach
Despite returning to action late in the season and signing a one-year contract extension in February, there are reportedly mixed opinions about his role in the upcoming campaign.
New head coach Nasreddine Nabi is said to be open to the possibility of Castillo’s departure as the club looks to free up a foreign slot to attract new international talent.
His representatives are believed to be exploring options in the off-season, should regular first-team football not be guaranteed in the new season.
Chiefs Confirm Departure of Edmilson Dove
In related squad changes, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove following the expiry of his contract at the end of June.
“Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways when his contract expires at the end of June,” the club stated.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Edmilson for his contributions to the Club and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Dove’s departure adds to an ongoing reshuffle at the club. Kaizer Chiefs had already confirmed the exits of Sabelo Radebe and Ranga Chivaviro, while Njabulo Blom’s loan was not extended.
With further changes expected under the incoming technical team, the club appears to be bracing for a significant rebuild ahead of the new season.
