Temba Mliswa Scammed Out of US$25,000 in Shady Car Deal
Politician Temba Mliswa revealed that he was cheated out of $25,000 in a botched car deal.
Mliswa had purchased the vehicle from former Chegutu Rural District Council Chairman, Tatenda Gwinji, who was recently released on amnesty after serving a six-month sentence for a separate offence.
How Temba Mliswa Was Scammed
Mliswa recounted that Gwinji had sold him a car but failed to hand it over despite receiving the full payment of US$25,000. Left with no other recourse, Mliswa reported the incident to the authorities, resulting in Gwinji’s arrest on fraud charges.
Expressing his satisfaction with the prompt response of the police, Mliswa mentioned how Gwinji had taken advantage of his trust.
Mliswa expressed his disappointment, highlighting their long-standing working relationship and the faith he had placed in Gwinji, who had now transformed into this unscrupulous version of himself. Mliswa asserted that he simply wants his money back, along with interest, emphasizing that Gwinji must face the full consequences of the law.
“I worked with him for a very long time when many deserted him and had so much belief in his capacity before he turned into this version of himself. Now all I want is my money plus interest otherwise he has to face the full wrath of the law,” Mliswa wrote.

Broken Promises: Gwinji’s Failure to Repay
Mliswa emphasized that he simply wants his money back with interest, and if not, Gwinji should face the full consequences of the law. Despite Gwinji’s earlier promise to repay the funds through Mliswa’s legal representatives at Msindo-Hungwe & Partners, his failure to follow through forced Mliswa to involve law enforcement.
