Controversial businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has triggered outrage after claiming that Zimbabweans who are not tenderpreneuers are “foolish.”

Tagwirei Tenderpreneuer Remarks, Labels Critics ‘Foolish’
Speaking at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo on Wednesday, Kudakwashe Tagwirei in a fiery speech dismissed critics of government tenders, calling them “foolish” and arguing that state contracts are essential for business growth.
“If you’re not a tenderpreneuer, you’re foolish. The biggest buyer or seller in this country is government, so if you don’t want to get your tender from the biggest buyer and biggest seller where are you going to get your business from?
“Anyone who tells you that you must not get tenders is foolish, you must actually strive to get a tender from government, Tagwirei said.

Kuda Tagwirei’s remarks have sparked controversy on social media. Many dismissed his comments as arrogant and out of touch.
Social media users labeled him “dull, foolish, and arrogant,” accusing him of being “a deep dimwit with money” rather than a shrewd businessman. Others expressed disappointment, stating they had once thought he had an “aura” but now see him as just another entitled elite. Some critics warned that “pride comes before the fall,” while others accused him of “surviving on corruption and state looting “rather than genuine enterprise.

For all his shrewd business acumen, Tagwirei has dangerous blind spots. A man of his stature must never call people preferring to stay in their lane “stupid”. Too much power corrupts. This is like Marie Antoinette saying “Let them eat cake” to the poor. Posterity will judge him.
