Mai Jeremaya Rape Accused Describes What Happened Inside Lodge
Martin Charlie, one of the two men on trial for allegedly raping social media influencer Mai Jeremaya, painted a very different picture in court on Monday, 30 June 2025.
He claimed their encounter at a Harare lodge on 30 April was completely consensual, even going so far as to say Mai Jeremaya enjoyed the experience and told him he was better in bed than her husband.
Charlie told the court that after picking up Mai Jeremaya in the CBD, they stopped briefly at KFC Joina City before heading to Paradise Lodge. He said there was no misunderstanding about what was going to happen. According to him, they had agreed beforehand that the meetup was sexual and transactional.

Mai Jeremaya Rape Accused Describes What Happened Inside Lodge
Describing what happened inside the lodge room, Charlie said Mai Jeremaya took control of the situation. He claimed she asked for her payment upfront, undressed herself, initiated physical contact, and even asked if he was enjoying the act.
He alleged that she opened a condom with her mouth, put it on him, and got on top of him. At no point, he said, did she appear uncomfortable or distressed.
“When we got into the room, after I closed the door and we sat on the bed, she asked for her money, which was the payment in advance. I gave her the money, which she put away before she removed her clothes, and was left with a bra and pulling socks. She then walked to me and I stood up, then she removed my shirt, she started sucking my nipples and kissing my stomach. She then got hold of my belt while kissing my nipples and further removed my trousers…and then pushed me onto the bed. She asked me where the condoms were, and I told her that they were in my pocket. Then she took the condom and opened it with her mouth, and put it on me. She removed her pulling socks and mounted on top of me. She asked me if it was going well and if I was enjoying it? I then said it was going well,” he described.
“She Never Screamed, the Lodge Was Full”
Charlie argued that if Mai Jeremaya had been in danger or unwilling, she had every chance to call for help. He said the lodge was busy that day, and if she had screamed, people would have heard and intervened.
“She never screamed during the act, and she did all she could for us to enjoy, and the place was full that if she had screamed for help, she would have been assisted,” said Charlie.
