A man lost his life to attackers after he stopped to help a stranded couple with a car that had broken down during the night.
Chelesani Moyo, a resident of Falcon Mine Compound, encountered a distressed couple, Tinashe Ngwenya and Sinikiwe Ncube, whose Nissan Sunny had broken down near J Mafuyana Township around 3:30 a.m. Police reports indicate Moyo stopped to offer assistance with a push start when tragedy struck.

“Without warning, three armed assailants emerged from the darkness,” stated police spokesperson Inspector Chiratidzo Dube. “One attacker delivered a fatal machete blow to the back of Moyo’s head as he was pushing the vehicle.”
The victim attempted to flee but collapsed approximately 100 meters from the scene. Ngwenya reportedly engaged in a violent struggle with the attackers, sustaining severe hand injuries while managing to wrestle a weapon away before escaping.
Moyo’s body was discovered at 6 AM by a passerby who immediately alerted authorities. “The deceased had sustained a catastrophic head wound and was identified by family members,” Inspector Dube confirmed during a press briefing.
Local residents expressed profound distress over the incident, with many now hesitant to stop for nighttime emergencies.
