Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe Appoints New Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) Board
The Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Lt Gen (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe, has appointed a new board to lead the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC).
The appointments take effect from 8 July 2025 and will run until 7 July 2029.

- Dr. Nathaniel Madzivanyika (Chairperson)
- Gwinyai T. Mharapara
- Hlengiwe Dube
- Shingai J. Rhuhwaya
- Givemore Madzoka
- Valentine S. Mudenda
- Lillian N. S. Chikara
- David Simba
Four-Year Term
The SRC board will serve a four-year term and is expected to spearhead policies that strengthen sporting infrastructure, enhance athlete development, and improve the country’s competitiveness in regional and international sport.

Strategic Move for Inclusive Governance
In a press release, the Permanent Secretary for Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Nicholas Moyo, described the appointments as a strategic step towards strengthening inclusive governance in the sector.
“The Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Honorable Lt Gen (Rtd) A.N Sanyatwe has appointed a new board for the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) with effect from July 8 to July 2029, a strategic move underscoring the ministry’s commitment to ensure inclusive governance in the sector,” said Moyo.
Mandate and Expectations
Moyo added that the new board has been tasked with guiding the strategic direction of the SRC over the next four years.
“The newly appointed board, comprising distinguished individuals with a wealth of experience and expertise, is tasked with the critical responsibility of guiding the strategic direction of SRC.
“Their collective mandate will be to steer the SRC towards achieving its objectives of promoting and regulating sport and recreation in Zimbabwe, nurturing talent from grassroots to elite levels, improving sports infrastructure, enhancing athlete development programmes, strengthening governance in national sports associations, securing sustainable funding for sports initiatives and promoting all disciplines,” Moyo said.
