Taxi Driver Found Dead in Suspected Murder
A Chegutu taxi driver was found dead with multiple injuries in an open space in the Kaguvi area of Pfupajena.
The discovery has prompted police to launch a murder investigation.
Body Discovered with Severe Injuries
The deceased, identified as Alex Sinoia, was discovered on Monday.
According to Mashonaland West Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera, Sinoia’s body showed signs of a violent attack.
“When officers attended the scene, they observed several injuries, including a wound on the left thigh, two deep wounds on the left leg, a stab wound on the left buttock, a deep cut on the right lower limb, and a cut on the top of the left ear,” Inspector Kohwera said.

Sinoia’s vehicle, a Honda Fit registration AEP 5524, was recovered about 181 metres from where the body lay.
The car was extensively vandalized, with all windows smashed, the front windscreen shattered and punctured, and all four tyres pierced by a sharp object.
Investigators also noted visible struggle marks and bloodstains about 90 metres from the vehicle. Pieces of Sinoia’s clothing were scattered on the ground, suggesting he was attacked before succumbing to his injuries.
Postmortem Examination Underway
Police conveyed the body to Chegutu District Hospital for a postmortem to help determine the exact cause of death.
Inspector Kohwera urged members of the public with any information that could assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station.
