Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has sparked widespread concern among rugby fans after recent pictures surfaced online showing him looking noticeably thinner.
The pictures have fueled speculation about his health, with supporters questioning whether his frail appearance is linked to past medical issues or a new development.

Fans Voice Worry Over Thinner Frame
In the pictures circulating online, Erasmus appeared visibly slimmer and shrunken compared to previous public appearances.
Many rugby supporters took to social media to ask if he was okay.
Past Health Struggles Resurface
While some observers speculated that the coach may simply be on a weight loss regime, others recalled Erasmus’s past health challenges, which he kept private for a long time.
Months before the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Erasmus was diagnosed with a rare and potentially life-threatening autoimmune disease called microscopic polyangiitis with granulomatosis, previously known as Wegener’s disorder.
The disorder can attack critical organs, including the lungs, kidneys, sinuses, and trachea. At the time, Erasmus chose to keep the diagnosis from both the national squad and the public. He later revealed he had undergone chemotherapy treatment to manage the condition.
Recent Surgery Adds to Concerns
More recently, in 2024, Erasmus disclosed that he had undergone a painful shoulder operation to correct an old injury sustained during his playing days.
The coach has not publicly commented on whether his current appearance is related to either the autoimmune disorder or his recent surgery.
