Harare Woman Gang Raped After Falling Victim to Fake Accountant Job Offer
A 21-year-old woman searching for employment was gang raped and robbed on Friday after being lured to central Harare under the pretext of a job interview.
Promised a Job, Met With Violence
The victim was contacted by two men—one identifying himself as Anthony—who claimed she was shortlisted for an accountant position.
They agreed to meet in the Harare CBD at around 3pm. When she arrived, she found the two suspects waiting in a silver Honda Fit parked at the corner of Robson Manyika and Angwa Street.
She got into the vehicle and sat beside Anthony, unaware of the danger that lay ahead.

Abducted and Assaulted Along Seke Road
Anthony instructed his accomplice to drive towards Chitungwiza under the guise of discussing the job offer in private.
Once along Seke Road, the men turned on her. They demanded she hand over her iPhone and the US$2 she carried in her wallet.
Inside the parked car, the two suspects took turns raping her without protection before dumping her by the roadside and fleeing the scene.

Police Confirm Case and Medical Support
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident.
“Police are investigating a rape and robbery case. The complainant was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examinations,” said Insp Chakanza.
No arrests had been announced at the time of publication.
Appeal for Vigilance
Authorities have urged job seekers to exercise extreme caution when responding to unsolicited offers and to verify the legitimacy of any interview invitations.
