In a daring attack on Tuesday evening, three armed robbers stormed Farmers Hub along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare and made off with US$15,000.
The incident occurred just before closing time, around 5pm.

Workers Tied and Forced to the Ground
According to H-Metro, the suspects gained entry into the premises and immediately ordered nine employees to lie down.
The workers were tied with electric cables before the robbers turned their attention to the company’s director.
The gang force-marched him around the premises, ransacking offices in search of money.
Safes Broken Open
The armed robbers managed to break into two safes — one in the boardroom and another in the accountant’s office — using a grinder. Inside, they found cash, which they took before dismantling and stealing the CCTV recorder drive mounted in the ceiling.
The victims were left bound and lying on the floor as the gang fled the scene.
Police Confirm Investigation
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case, saying investigations are underway.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery.
“They broke the safe from the boardroom using a grinder and broke the other safe in the accountant’s office and stole cash,” said Insp Chakanza.
Guard Turns on Employers in Alleged Inside Job Robbery
In a separate case, a Harare security guard was recently arrested for masterminding an armed robbery against his Chinese employers, in what investigators believe was an inside job.
The violent ambush saw the couple lose US$37,000 in cash and valuables right at their own home.
The accused, Brian Kambarami (43), who was hired by the couple for their protection, appeared in the Harare Magistrates’ Court alongside an alleged accomplice, Tinashe Muguti (38).
Both were remanded in custody until September 15, with Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa advising them to apply for bail through the High Court.
