Court documents reveal the incident began when Mhene received an invitation from Triphiner “Mai Nga” Gwafa, 43, a married woman he had reportedly pursued for years. Unbeknownst to him, the rendezvous would end with him being ambushed by Gwafa’s husband and relatives in their Bindura home.

“He arrived believing this was a private meeting,” explained legal representatives familiar with the case. “He parked his vehicle at a nearby service station before proceeding on foot to the residence.”

Gwafa disclosed to reporters that Mhene had allegedly made advances toward her for several years, beginning when their sons attended the same boarding school. She claims the businessman would make inappropriate comments during parental visits.
“He repeatedly questioned my marital satisfaction,” Gwafa stated. “After my husband took additional wives and we separated, Mhene became more persistent with his attention.”

The situation escalated when Mhene allegedly shared a prophetic dream about Gwafa’s personal life.
“He claimed to have envisioned me crying from unmet needs,” she recounted. “As a religious woman, I found this deeply disturbing.”
What followed was a carefully orchestrated sting operation. As Mhene entered the bedroom and allegedly began making physical advances, Gwafa activated a recording device. Moments later, her husband, Tondera Matukanzvimbo, 46, and brother-in-law burst into the room, leading to a violent altercation that left Mhene injured.

When contacted for comment, Mhene declined to provide details, stating only that he was preparing official police statements regarding the incident.
