Botswana’s Richest Man Dumps Former Ruling Party BDP

Satar Dada, considered Botswana’s richest man, has officially resigned from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), marking a significant blow to the party. Dada’s resignation comes after the BDP’s dismal performance in the recent general elections, where the party secured only four parliamentary seats. This historic loss ended the BDP’s nearly six-decade-long rule in Botswana.

Dada’s exit from the BDP has sparked speculation about the reasons behind his resignation. Some suggest that his decision is directly linked to the party’s poor performance in the elections. The opposition party, led by President Duma Boko, secured a majority of seats in the National Assembly, marking a significant upset.

The BDP’s future prospects remain uncertain, and Dada’s exit may be a sign of further challenges to come.
