Chimanimani Village Head Abuses His Position And Dates Married Women

A village head in Chimanimani is in trouble for abusing his position in the community and dating married women.

Herbert Musiyandaka is facing potential removal from his position after being accused of having an illicit affair with a married woman. This scandal marks the second time Musiyandaka has been embroiled in an adultery controversy, casting a shadow over his role as a traditional leader.

Manica Post reported that Musiyandaka, who leads Musiyandaka Village, was taken to Chief Saurombe’s community court last Sunday by Peter Mashava, who accused him of having an affair with his wife, Esther Mlambo. Mashava, clearly distressed, revealed that he had to abandon his home due to escalating threats linked to Musiyandaka.

I have been receiving threatening messages from an unknown number ever since I raised this issue. I believe these threats are from Musiyandaka because people in the village have been telling me for a while that he is bedding my wife.

Mashava had sent his wife back to her parents after learning of the alleged affair, but Musiyandaka reportedly forced him to allow her to return.

He argued that I had no choice but to stay with her, even though I could not endure her wayward behaviour anymore,” Mashava claimed.

After Mlambo’s return, Mashava abandoned his home. Rumours of the affair intensified, with villagers claiming they frequently saw Musiyandaka in Mashava’s homestead with his wife.

When I went to register my household with the village head, he refused and told me the homestead now belongs to my wife,” Mashava added.

Mashava further alleged that after taking the matter to court, the threatening messages increased.

The texts warned that I would be killed if I continued pursuing this with the court,” he said.

Chief Saurombe expressed concerns over Musiyandaka’s conduct.

This is not the first time Musiyandaka has been involved in such a scandal. His leadership is now under scrutiny because no one still trusts him as a leader,” he said.

The hearing was adjourned to 20 October after Musiyandaka and Mlambo failed to appear in court.
