Doctor Reveals Alois Bunjira’s Injuries After Fatal Rusape-Nyanga Road Accident
Rusape General Hospital has provided an update on the condition of former Warriors and CAPS United star Alois Bunjira, who was involved in a fatal road accident near Rusape along the Rusape-Nyanga Road on Saturday afternoon, 16 August 2025.
Details of the Rusape-Nyanga Road Accident
The crash claimed the lives of two people; one died at the scene, and another after being admitted to the hospital, while four others sustained injuries of varying severity. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Despite the chaos, Bunjira reportedly walked away with only minor bruises and chose not to be admitted, opting instead to stay with injured relatives. Ambulances rushed the injured to Rusape General Hospital for treatment.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident via a statement on their official X account. Commissioner Paul Nyathi explained that the collision happened around 10:00 AM at the 8 km peg along Rusape-Nyanga Road. An Isuzu pickup carrying three passengers attempted to overtake a bus while a BMW, driven by Bunjira with a passenger, was approaching. The two vehicles collided head-on, killing two passengers in the Isuzu.

Rusape General Hospital Updates on Alois Bunjira’s Injuries
Rusape General Hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Stewart Karembo, gave more details about the victims. He explained that ambulances were dispatched immediately, and five people were brought in. Sadly, one of them died shortly after admission.
He added that one of the male patients had serious head injuries and a broken leg and had to be transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital. Alois Bunjira, meanwhile, only suffered minor soft tissue injuries in the accident and chose not to be admitted, instead staying by the side of his injured relatives.
“I have been informed about the accident, and we dispatched ambulances to the scene. Five victims were brought to the hospital, one of whom died after admission. We are currently treating two males and two females. One of the male patients has serious injuries, including a head injury and a fractured leg, and has been transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for further treatment. Alois Bunjira sustained soft tissue injuries, but declined admission, choosing to accompany his relatives instead,” said Dr Karembo.
