A driver who was caught with a married woman used his employer’s money to pay the woman’s husband, who was extorting him with a recoded video.
The Ambush and Demands
Rangarirai Mhonda was confronted by Wilsher Tichawona Rwodzi, who identified himself as the husband of the woman involved, Tracy Mashonga. Rwodzi, accompanied by an accomplice, allegedly filmed Mhonda in a compromised state and proceeded to assault him.

The assailants demanded an immediate payment of US$1,000, threatening to publicly release the incriminating video on social media platforms to shame Mhonda and potentially embarrass his employer.

Unable to meet the full demand, from his day’s bread sales. He was then forced to contact friends for assistance, with one individual arriving with an additional US$200.
After a total of US$380 was handed over, Mhonda was released. He subsequently filed a formal report with the police, leading to the arrest of Rwodzi and his associate.
Sources close to the investigation suggest the event may have been a premeditated trap. It is alleged that the bedroom door was intentionally left unlocked to facilitate the ambush, with the intent to extort money from the victim under threats of public humiliation. In one circulated video, Mhonda is coerced into stating his employer’s name and his own marital status.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of this complex case.
