Father Tortures & Kills Teenage Son For Failing Police Recruitment Tests
A 41-year-old Waterfalls father has been arrested in a horrifying case of parental violence after allegedly torturing and beating his own son to death because the teenager failed police recruitment tests. The gruesome incident, occurred on Sunday, August 11, 2025.
A Father’s Unforgivable Rage: The Beating That Went Too Far
Gibson Munyoro, a security officer by profession, had pinned his hopes on his 19-year-old son, Ngonidzashe Munyoro, joining the Zimbabwe Republic Police. On July 29, 2025, Ngonidzashe attended interviews at Mkushi Academy (formerly Morris Depot), but just four days later, on August 2, he was sent home after being declared “unfit” for police duties.
What followed was a nightmare no child should ever endure.
“Gibson was furious. He tied Ngonidzashe’s hands and legs together, forced an iron bar between them, and suspended him between two tables like an animal,” a shaken neighbor revealed. “Then he started beating him with a baton stick—over and over—while the boy screamed for help.”
Witnesses say Gibson threatened anyone who tried to intervene, leaving the helpless teenager at his father’s mercy.
A Mother’s Heartbreaking Attempt to Save Her Son
The only person who could stop the horror was Ngonidzashe’s mother, Ruvimbo Masunga. When she arrived at the scene after frantic calls from neighbors, she found her son barely conscious, his body covered in bruises.
“Ruvimbo fought Gibson off and, with the help of others, carried Ngonidzashe inside,” a family friend said. “But it was too late. His injuries were too severe. He died in that house, in his mother’s arms.”
Police were called, and Gibson was arrested on the spot. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident, stating:
“We are investigating a murder case where a father is accused of killing his own son. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.”
