Female Body With Bruised Face Discovered Floating In A Bulawayo River

A female body with a bruised face and swollen eye has been discovered while floating in a stream in Magwegwe, Bulawayo.

Residents of New Magwegwe were left in shock last Friday when an unidentified woman’s body was found floating in a local stream, prompting an immediate police response. The grim discovery, made on July 26, 2025, has raised serious concerns among community members and law enforcement alike.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officials confirmed the victim displayed visible facial trauma, including significant bruising and a swollen left eye, suggesting possible foul play.

The partially clothed body wore only a distinctive black, white, and red checkered dress and was missing shoes when discovered.

Local witnesses described an emotionally charged scene, with several residents reportedly breaking down upon viewing the remains.

“The condition of the body clearly indicated she may have suffered violence before death. It’s a devastating sight no one should have to see,” one visibly distressed bystander told reporters.

Authorities Seek Public Cooperation

Law enforcement has classified the case as a potential homicide and has initiated a full-scale investigation. The police are also seeking help in identifying the woman to know what happened to her. Police spokesperson urged community members with any relevant information to come forward:

“We’re appealing to anyone who might recognize this individual or have knowledge about this incident to immediately contact their nearest police station.”
