Former Orlando Pirates Striker Tendai Ndoro’s Father Confirms Burial Plans, Says Date Still to Be Set
The family of the late former Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has announced that he will be laid to rest in Zimbabwe.
His father, Silas Mukundwa, explained that while the family is certain Ndoro’s burial will take place at home, they are still finalising the finer details. He said relatives in South Africa are handling some of the arrangements, and the family will only confirm the date once everything is settled.
“For now we cannot say much about his burial arrangements. We are yet to know the date we are going to bury him but he will be laid to rest in Zimbabwe. We are still waiting to hear on the arrangements that are being made by those who are running around in South Africa,” Mukundwa told reporters.
Ndoro, who was 40 years old, was found dead in his Sandton apartment in South Africa on Monday. The talented forward, who also turned out for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Ajax Cape Town and Saudi Arabian side Al-Faisaly, had been living quietly in recent years.
Mourners have started gathering at the family home in Bulawayo’s Nketa 8 suburb ahead of the funeral.
Meanwhile, former Zimbabwe international Edelbert Dinha, who played with Ndoro in South Africa, revealed that the striker may have been dead for days before anyone found him.
“Eish, my brother, it’s very sad, and I’m not feeling good at all right now. I am actually at the scene as we speak. We are still waiting to hear the full story of what happened, but what I can confirm is that we heard about his passing this afternoon and rushed here to check. Apparently, he had already been gone for about three days.”
He said the news came as a shock, and it was painful to realise Ndoro had passed away alone. Dinha added that the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear, with investigations still ongoing.
