G4S employees have postponed their strike, which was expected to affect thousands of businesses and banks.
Workers were set to down tools, demanding the company bring back retrenched employees, and as a result, would not be collecting or distributing money.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) is demanding that G4S explain the criteria it used to terminate the workers.
But they said they would meet with the employer at the CCMA on Saturday.
SATAWU national spokesperson Amanda Tsemese said the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) called the two parties back to the negotiating table on Saturday to try and find common ground and avoid a strike.
“I also want to emphasize that if we still do not agree on anything tomorrow [Saturday], the strike will then go ahead as planned. The strike is legally protected. We remain hopeful that the meeting will give us positive results to avoid going on strike.”
