Ghana Mourns as Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Two Ministers and Six Others

The nation of Ghana is in mourning following a devastating military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two prominent government ministers and three aircrew members.

In a sombre press conference, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah confirmed the deaths of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science & Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed. The ill-fated Z9 Air Force helicopter went down on Wednesday under circumstances that remain under investigation.

“This represents a profound national tragedy,” Debrah stated. “The President and entire government extend our deepest condolences to the families of our fallen colleagues and the brave service members who died while serving our nation.”

Victims and Immediate Aftermath

The crash claimed the lives of:

Edward Omane Boamah – Defense Minister
Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed – Environment Minister
Three additional government officials
Three Air Force crew members

Authorities reported losing radar contact with the aircraft prior to the incident. Military investigators have been dispatched to determine the cause of the catastrophic failure.
