Govt Spokesman Reassures Zimbabweans Over Chivayo, Chimombe and Mpofu

Nick Mangwana Addresses Allegations Against Chivayo, Chimombe, and Mpofu]

The Permanent Secretary for Information, Nick Mangwana, has indirectly addressed the controversy surrounding businessmen Wicknell Chivayo, Mike Chimombe, and Moses Mpofu.

The trio has become a hot topic on social media following allegations that they received millions of dollars from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) through tenders that bypassed proper procedures.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is investigating the trio for alleged money laundering and abuse of office related to a contractual dispute over supplying election materials to ZEC.

Concerns have been raised about whether these individuals, who are said to have close ties with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, will face the full consequences of the law.

In response, Mangwana took to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account to reassure Zimbabweans that no one is above the law, and those who break the law will be arrested.

“Nobody is above the law. Lawbreakers will be arrested. Simpu,” Nick Mangwana posted.

In the comments section, Zimbabweans expressed scepticism, with some pointing out that the reality on the ground contradicts his statement. Others warned him that such statements could cost him his job. Here are some of the reactions:
