Groove Turns Gruesome As Shurugwi Man Is Murdered For Spilling Beer

In a matter that has left many people dumbfounded, a Shurugwi man was murdered after spilling a patron’s beer while having a few drinks at a local beer hall.

A 26-year-old resident of Village 10, Zviumwa in Shurugwi, is currently facing murder charges in the Shurugwi Magistrates’ Court.

The charge is linked to a deadly altercation that ensued after another patron accidentally spilled his beer.

Details of the Incident that led to the murder

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) reports that the incident occurred on July 7, 2024, at a bottle store situated in the Zviumwa Business Centre, located in the Midlands Province’s Shurugwi District.

The accused, Albert Gido, allegedly blamed the 35-year-old victim, Future Ngwenya, for spilling his beer and proceeded to assault him with his bare hands.

Other patrons at the bar intervened, stopping Gido from continuing his attack on Ngwenya. However, it is alleged that around 11 PM, after most patrons had left, Gido resumed his assault on Ngwenya. This time, he used both his hands and a plastic chair to inflict further harm while an accomplice, Trymore Manhoro (30), who is still at large, held Ngwenya down.

Escalation and Tragic Outcome

The bar operator eventually forced Gido and Manhoro out of the establishment. It is reported that Gido then dragged the seriously injured Ngwenya to a remote area, where he allegedly stabbed him in the stomach and armpit with a sharp object.

After inflicting these grievous injuries, Gido and his accomplice fled the scene, leaving Ngwenya bleeding heavily and in critical condition.
