Court documents reveal the defendant stands accused of two major offences, violating Zimbabwe’s Graves Act through willful destruction of burial sites, and attempted murder following a violent altercation with city employees.
The magistrate has ordered Nyawasha to remain in custody until August 1, when his bail hearing will take place.

According to prosecution statements, the incident unfolded on July 29 when Nyawasha allegedly entered Warren Hills Cemetery armed with a hammer. Witnesses report the suspect began systematically damaging multiple tombstones, causing an estimated $1,500 in property damage.
When municipal security personnel intervened to stop the destruction, the situation turned violent. Prosecutors allege Nyawasha turned his weapon against the guards, inflicting serious injuries, including a fractured leg, on one victim before being restrained.
