A Harare man from Budiriro died after he cut his own flesh and ate it. The 21-year-old man has left many shocked by the bizarre nature of his self-inflicted injury that subsequently led to his death.

Eyewitness accounts describe a harrowing scene, suggesting the young man appeared to be under the influence of a malevolent force. The incident, which unfolded in the Ngungunyani area, left residents traumatised.

According to those present, Mutize used broken ceramic pieces to cut his own flesh before subsequently throwing himself into an open fire.
Neighbours, including an elderly woman known as Ambuya Ashumba, recounted the terrifying events leading to his death. She described a drastic change in the otherwise well-mannered young man, who began emitting loud, strange noises. His behaviour escalated to violence, including threats against his siblings and the destruction of property, with blood reportedly used to paint walls and doors.
Despite being rushed for medical assistance, Aaron Mutize succumbed to catastrophic blood loss en route to the hospital. He has since been laid to rest in his family’s rural home in Masvingo. While local authorities stated they had not yet received an official report, multiple witnesses have corroborated the disturbing sequence of events.
