Chilling Details Emerge On Mutangaz’s Shooting In Ruwa

Details have emerged surrounding the brutal killing of businessman Joseph Mutangadura, popularly known as Mtangaz, who was gunned down at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse in Ruwa. The prominent businessman was reportedly shot six times by a gang of suspected robbers during a raid.

Robbers storm farmhouse

According to information gathered, seven suspected robbers raided Lisheen Estate on the night of Sunday, 17 August 2025. Mutangadura, who owned Lisheen Estate, the popular Mutangadura Hideout, butcheries, and several other businesses, was inside the farmhouse when the assailants struck.

Sources claim the attackers confronted him and demanded cash. They allege that Mutangadura told them he did not have money on him, insisting that all the day’s proceeds were kept in the abattoir.

The gang then opened fire on him. Witnesses said he was first shot in the stomach before more than five bullets were pumped into his chest.

One source, who requested anonymity, told reporters:

“They asked him for money but he said there was none in the house. That is when they shot him first in the stomach and then continued firing. It was a terrifying scene.”

The suspects reportedly fled soon after, leaving the businessman’s lifeless body behind.

Police confirm fatal shooting

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a brief statement. He said he was awaiting full details before releasing a comprehensive update.

Commissioner Nyathi stated:

“I am still waiting for the details of the case and will soon issue a comprehensive statement on what transpired.”

A team of detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide in Harare has since been deployed to Ruwa to investigate.

The murder has left the Ruwa community in shock, particularly as Mutangadura was a well-known businessman whose ventures employed many locals.

As police intensify investigations, residents have been urged to remain calm while law enforcement pursues the perpetrators.
