ICZ Steps In with Full Funeral Support and Insurance Benefits for Families of Seke Accident Victims
The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) has stepped in to provide full funeral support and compensation to the families of the 17 people who died in a tragic road accident at the Manyame Bridge along Seke Road.
The crash, which occurred on July 22, 2025, involved a lorry and a commuter omnibus, both of which were reportedly insured and compliant with traffic regulations.

ICZ Announces Immediate Insurance Intervention
In the wake of the tragedy, the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) has pledged to provide full funeral support to the victims’ families.
In a statement released shortly after the accident, ICZ expressed its condolences to the bereaved families and the nation at large.
“The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) and its members, the non-life insurers and reinsurers in Zimbabwe, extend their profound and heartfelt condolences to the families and the nation of Zimbabwe,” read part of the statement.
ICZ confirmed that the lorry was covered under COMESA Yellow Card insurance while the commuter omnibus had the required Road Traffic Act Motor Cover and Public Passenger Liability.
Full Funeral and Burial Services Offered
According to the ICZ, the insurance cover was activated immediately, and a funeral parlour was contracted to provide comprehensive funeral and burial services for all the deceased within Zimbabwe.
The ICZ further urged next of kin to contact them for assistance:
“ICZ immediately activated the insurance cover and contracted a funeral parlour to provide comprehensive funeral and burial services for all the deceased within the borders of Zimbabwe. The beneficiaries or next of kin of the deceased are advised to contact the ICZ on Toll Free Number 591 for processing of the insurance compensation benefits as provided by the Road Traffic Act. The Call Centre Staff will provide guidance in swiftly accessing the relevant benefits.”
Collaboration with CPU and ZRP in Relief Efforts
The ICZ also confirmed that it is working closely with the Civil Protection Unit (CPU) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to provide continued support and coordination in assisting the bereaved families.
“The ICZ and its members stand in solidarity with the nation in this period of mourning. We remain committed to upholding our promise of support and financial relief to the bereaved through insurance compensation,” the statement added
