Police Dismiss Reports of Another Seke Road Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has moved to clarify misinformation spreading on social media regarding a supposed traffic accident at Hunyani Bridge along Seke Road.
The reports had suggested that a Trip Trans bus was involved in a collision near the site of last week’s tragic crash that killed 17 people.
According to the circulating posts, the bus allegedly lost control and rammed into two vehicles.
No Crash, Just a Mechanical Fault – ZRP
In a statement released on Friday morning, police firmly denied that an accident had taken place.
They confirmed that the Trip Trans bus experienced a mechanical breakdown, and that no collision or casualties were recorded.
“The ZRP refutes reports circulating on social media about a road traffic accident at Hunyani Bridge along Seke Road on 24/07/25. There was only a bus breakdown at the scene, with no accident reported,” the statement read.

Social Media Panic After Recent Tragedy
The false claims quickly gained traction online, amplified by the memory of the recent horror crash at the same location. That incident, which involved a haulage truck and a commuter omnibus, left 17 dead and sparked public outcry over road safety.
Given the emotional weight of the previous tragedy, the unverified claims triggered unnecessary panic among commuters and residents.
Authorities Urge Caution Amid Rising Misinformation
The police have since urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information, especially in sensitive contexts.
They also reassured the public that they remain committed to monitoring safety along high-risk roads such as Seke Road.
