Mnangagwa Spokesperson Confirms Tagwirei Has No Twitter Account
Controversial businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has denied having any official presence on X (formerly Twitter) and dismissed several pro-Tagwirei accounts as fake.
The clarification came via presidential spokesperson George Charamba, who posted on X on Tuesday, 29 July 2025. According to Charamba, he personally phoned Tagwirei to ask about the social media accounts claiming to represent him or show support for him.

Charamba said Tagwirei firmly denied being behind any of the pages and disassociated himself from them entirely. According to him, both men believe these accounts were likely created to stir division within the ruling Zanu-PF party.
Summing up their suspicions, Charamba wrote:
“SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT: I have just been on the phone with ELDER TAGWIREI. He CATEGORICALLY DENIES ANY LINK with accounts pretending association with him, including the one calling itself Land Tenure Programme, and another calling itself Friends of Elder Tagwirei. They will achieve neither!!!!!”

Zimbabweans React As Kuda Tagwirei Throws Supporter Accounts Under the Bus
In response, many Zimbabweans raised questions about where they could access reliable, verified information. Others were more sceptical, arguing that Charamba himself wasn’t so different from the anonymous accounts he was criticising.
Here are some of the reactions:
@WillarShoko:
Where do we get the correct, reliable source of information so that we can follow?
@TakuMufambi:
Understandable, but where can one find credible information on the Land Tenure Programme?
@tigere02:
You are no different from those accounts, they are ghosts just like you. Strange that you would come here complaining about misinformation yet you are doing just the same.
@OkaPhusisa:
Haha pa opposition activists I doubt, could be unofficial accounts like Toedzazvimwe for plausible deniability.
@JamesonSibanda:
Without further investigation into the specific activities and origins of these accounts, attributing their creation solely to malicious intent or political opposition without concrete evidence is speculative.
