Selemane “Majuice” Mpochi, the star dancer and choreographer of Orchestra Mberikwazvo, has received a final warning upon rejoining the group after a four-week suspension.
Majuice was suspended earlier in the month for being late during a performance in Chiredzi, claiming he had “overslept” at the lodge where the band was staying, which upset Macheso’s management. His suspension was revoked yesterday following his pleas for forgiveness, including appeals to Alick Macheso’s confidants on his behalf.
Majuice has been relegated to a regular band member. Tich Makahamadze, the publicist for Orchestra Mberikwazvo, confirmed Majuice’s reinstatement, stating, “Majuice is back at work. We have issued him a final warning. This is his second suspension. He will perform at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex this Saturday. Should he repeat his misconduct, we will not tolerate it.”
Band insiders report that Majuice’s status has been downgraded. “He’s been warned for the last time and will no longer enjoy the privileges he had as a senior member. Baba Sharo has appointed Kariba (Shame Chidewo) as the lead dancer to assume Majuice’s duties. Having apologized to Baba Sharo, we hope Majuice has learned his lesson,” the insider revealed.
