According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the altercation occurred on July 14, 2025. Following a heated argument, the husband, in a fit of rage, took a kitchen knife. He proceeded to stab his wife once in the right breast and twice on her right hand. The young woman only narrowly escaped further harm by fleeing the scene.

She found help after running and reported the matter to the police, which subsequently led to her husband’s arrest. The wife luckily survived the brutal attack and was treated at a local hospital, where she recovered.

Court Sentence and Condemnation

The Mutasa Magistrates’ Court delivered its verdict, sentencing the perpetrator to a 24-month imprisonment term. The court suspended six months of this sentence for a five-year period, contingent upon the man demonstrating good behaviour. The remaining 18-month term was commuted to a conditional discharge, requiring the completion of 20 weeks of community service.
