Married Man In Court After Kidnapping And Assaulting His Sidechick And Her Child

A married man is in trouble with the law after allegedly kidnapping his sidechick and her young child before subjecting her to a brutal assault inside his moving vehicle. Marvellous Baro, a 30-year-old man, has found himself behind bars following the shocking incident, which left the woman battered and bleeding.

Baro appeared before Regional Magistrate Mark Dzira to face two serious counts of kidnapping. The court was told he entered a plea of not guilty. His application for bail was firmly denied by the magistrate, and the case was remanded to the 8th of September.

The ordeal began on the 4th of August after Baro, his lover Nothabo Sibanda, her three-year-old child, and other relatives had spent the day together.

Upon returning to Nothabo’s home in Fourwinds, she declined his invitation to accompany him to his own residence in Pumula South. This simple act of refusal allegedly triggered an explosive and violent reaction from Baro.

It is alleged that the accused stormed out of the vehicle, grabbed the complainant by her throat, and punched her directly in the face. The situation rapidly escalated despite the pleas of those present. Even with her screams for help and attempts by his own friend to restrain him, he allegedly overpowered everyone and forcibly pushed Nothabo and her toddler into his car.

The court heard that Baro drove at a dangerously high speed while simultaneously attacking his trapped passenger. He is accused of periodically stopping the car solely to continue his vicious assault on Nothabo, who was left bleeding profusely from her nose and mouth.

The nightmare finally neared its end when Baro stopped near the Hillside Police Station. Seizing the opportunity, Nothabo made a desperate bid for freedom. She reportedly forced the car door open and leapt from the moving vehicle. Her screams as Baro gave chase and continued to beat her were heard by officers from the nearby station, who immediately rushed to her aid. Baro attempted to flee the scene in his car but was swiftly pursued and arrested by police.
