Michael Nees Drafts Tymon Machope into Warriors Squad for World Cup Qualifiers After Injury
Scottland FC forward Tymon Machope has been handed a late call-up to the Warriors squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda. He replaces the injured Jonah Fabisch.
Machope has been in fine form, leading Scottland’s push for their first-ever Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title. His goals have arrived just when the Mabvuku-based side needed them most, making him one of the standout strikers in the local league this season.
The lanky striker first made his name at Simba Bhora after joining the topflight in July 2023. By the end of his debut season, he had scored seven goals — enough to help the then-newcomers avoid relegation.
But in 2024, he began slowly and was even written off by some critics as a one-season wonder. He silenced the doubters when he hit top gear in the second half of the campaign, finishing with 11 goals and playing a key role in Simba Bhora’s surprise league title triumph.
Machope moved to Scottland in 2025, but once again started sluggishly, netting just five times in the opening 22 matches. He has since rediscovered his scoring touch, and with 12 goals to his name so far, he has become one of the club’s most reliable performers in the run-in.
Speaking on his mindset, Machope said strikers live on confidence, and each goal fuels belief for the next one. In his words, finding the net motivates him to keep going, and he hopes to score many more in his career.
“As a striker, you motivate yourself. When you score, you get more confident, so I want to keep on scoring and get to hundreds,” he said.
At Scottland, Machope has to fight for his place against seasoned campaigners. The club recently bolstered its attack with Warriors legends Knowledge Musona and Terrence Dzukamanja, alongside Malawian forward Khuda Myaba. Even with this heavy competition, Machope’s form has forced him into the conversation, and now into the national team.
