Only a Cellphone Worth US$10 Was Stolen: Questions Arise Over Joseph Mutangadura’s Murder, Hit Suspected
Joseph “Mutangazi” Mutangadura, a prominent Ruwa businessman, was shot dead at his farm in what police described as a robbery.
However, the murder has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation about the true motive behind the brutal attack.

Details of the Attack
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, seven armed suspects, wearing balaclavas and carrying pistols, claw bars, and hammers, attacked the premises around 11 PM on 17 August 2025.
The gang tied up a security guard and the victim’s son before breaking into Mutangadura’s bedroom, where he was shot multiple times in the stomach and chest.
Both he and his wife were rushed to Eden Hospital, Windsor, Ruwa, where Mutangadura was pronounced dead on arrival.

Questions About Motive
Speaking to the tabloid, family members expressed suspicion that the attack was not a typical robbery.
“This incident has left us with more questions.
“What is disturbing is that the gang was not after the money but the life of Joseph,” one relative, who wished to remain anonymous, said.
Reports indicate that the intruders even asked a security guard for a description of Mutangadura before gaining entry, and they refused his offer to lead them to an abattoir where cash was kept, choosing instead to shoot him.
Ongoing Investigation
Meanwhile, the police are continuing investigations into both murder and robbery. Authorities have not yet identified the suspects but are working to piece together the motive behind the shocking murder of Joseph Mutangadura.
