Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of four suspected rhino poachers allegedly killed by rangers at Kruger National Park.
Kruger National Park spokesperson, Ike Phaahla, said that one of the suspects was shot and killed last Friday, but his accomplices managed to escape.
Phaahla said a hunting rifle, ammunition, and poaching equipment were recovered from the scene.
He said the latest incident happened on Tuesday.
“The second incident took place on the 18th of June, at night, where three suspects were fatally wounded.
“A heavy calibre hunting rifle, ammunition, and poaching equipment were recovered. Both incidents are being investigated by the South African Police Service while the rangers are being counselled.”
