President Mnangagwa Declares Seke Horror Accident a National Disaster

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared the deadly road accident that claimed 17 lives in Chitungwiza a national disaster.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, has shaken the nation and prompted swift government intervention.

Minister Garwe Announces Declaration During Emotional Visit

The announcement was made by Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe, who addressed grieving families during a solemn gathering at a local funeral parlour in Chitungwiza.

Minister Garwe confirmed that the declaration paves the way for immediate State support, including state-assisted funerals for all the victims.

ICZ Offers Funeral Support and Compensation Benefits

Additionally, the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) has stepped in to provide full funeral support and compensation to the families of the 17 people who died in a tragic road accident.

According to the ICZ, the insurance cover was activated immediately, and a funeral parlour was contracted to provide comprehensive funeral and burial services for all the deceased within Zimbabwe.

The ICZ further urged next of kin to contact them for assistance:

“ICZ immediately activated the insurance cover and contracted a funeral parlour to provide comprehensive funeral and burial services for all the deceased within the borders of Zimbabwe. The beneficiaries or next of kin of the deceased are advised to contact the ICZ on Toll Free Number 591 for processing of the insurance compensation benefits as provided by the Road Traffic Act. The Call Centre Staff will provide guidance in swiftly accessing the relevant benefits.
