‘She Was A Proverbs 31 Woman’: Alois Bunjira’s December Wedding Plans Cut Short By Fiancée’s Death

Alois Bunjira says he was set to marry late fiancée in December before tragedy

Former Warriors footballer Alois Bunjira has revealed that he was preparing to marry his late fiancée, Brenda Zvinorova, in December before her sudden death in a car crash left his world in ruins.

The former international broke his silence after laying Zvinorova to rest in Harare. His words painted a raw picture of love, dreams, and unbearable loss.

‘I am broken and brokenhearted’

Speaking after the burial, Bunjira described the devastating pain he is enduring.

He said:

“I feel much better physically, but emotionally I am broken. Brenda was laid to rest this afternoon. She was my life partner and sweetheart, who couldn’t make it after an operation to repair her intestines, injured in the accident.”

Zvinorova had initially survived the crash in Rusape but later succumbed to her injuries three days after the collision.

For Bunjira, the tragedy has robbed him not only of his partner but also of the life they had been building together.

He said:

“Brenda was my partner at home, my co-director in business, my motivator, my date, my manager, my carer, my best friend, my gossip partner — my everything. She was the nicest person I have ever known in my life. Indeed, Proverbs 31 women exist. I witnessed and experienced it first-hand.”

Dreams shattered

Bunjira revealed that the two had planned to wed in December. Instead, he now faces a future without the woman who had given him hope and a renewed outlook on life.

He said:

“She brought a life that I cherished and showed me love and living. I loved her for all that and more. I wish our love could have lasted into our 70s, 80s, or even 90s.”

Among Zvinorova’s own ambitions was the recognition of the Albun Honde Valley Marathon as a qualifier for South Africa’s prestigious Comrades Marathon.

Bunjira said:

“Hopefully one day that dream will be fulfilled and she will be smiling in heaven.”

‘Fly high my Superwoman’

As he struggles to come to terms with the loss, Bunjira is clinging to the memories of the time they shared.

He said:

“She changed the way I looked at and perceived life. We had amazing times. I will forever live with those memories.”

In a final farewell, the former footballer poured out his grief.

“All I want now is for her soul to rest in eternal peace. Only God knows why he took you away from us. Fly high… my Superwoman. I will forever live with the memories.”

Zvinorova’s death leaves behind her children, family, and a shattered fiancé who was only months away from marrying the love of his life.
