Six ZCC Congregants Killed, 16 Others Injured in Masvingo Road Accident
Six people were killed and 16 others injured when a Toyota Quantum carrying 22 Zion Christian Church (ZCC) congregants was involved in an accident.
The vehicle reportedly veered off the road and overturned along the Mutare–Masvingo Road on 11 August 2025.

Police Confirms Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident, which happened around 2:00 am near the 283-kilometre peg.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 283 kilometre peg along Mutare-Masvingo Road on 11th August 2025 at around 0200 hours.
Six people were killed while 16 others were injured when a Toyota Quantum vehicle with 22 Zion Christian Church (ZCC) congregates on board veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels,” reads part of the statement.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Masvingo General Hospital for postmortem, and the injured were admitted to the same hospital.
Authorities will release the names of the deceased once their next of kin have been informed.
One Killed, 20 Injured in Hwange Accident
In a separate incident, one person died and 20 others were injured on 10 August 2025 at around 5:00 am near the Hwange Colliery Training Centre.
A Nissan NP300 with 20 passengers veered off the road after the left rim broke, overturned, and landed on its roof.
The injured were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Police Urge Caution on the Roads
The ZRP has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution, avoid speeding, and comply with all road rules to protect lives.
Authorities stressed that adherence to regulations is critical in preventing further tragedies on the country’s roads.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should avoid speeding on the roads and above all, observe all road rules and regulations to safeguard human lives.”
