“Stop Whining, Start Bidding”: ZANU PF Spokesperson Tells Critics to Chase Tenders
ZANU PF’s director for information, Farai Marapira, has stirred debate after telling critics of tenderpreneurs like Kuda Tagwirei and Wicknell Chivayo to stop complaining and take part in the tender system.
Zanu PF Spokesperson Tells Zimbabweans to Start Bidding for Tenders
Speaking during an interview on ZiFM Stereo, Marapira said Zimbabweans were wasting their energy insulting successful entrepreneurs. He argued that people should focus on grabbing the same opportunities instead of attacking those who have already done so.
According to Marapira, while many people spend time criticising others, those with business sense are chasing tenders and making money. He said this negativity holds people back.
“So those who see opportunities and have an entrepreneurship acumen they know where to go for the money. While others are busy with insults, business-minded folks are going for the money. So sometimes it is retrogressive to just want to insult those who have taken that step forward,” he said.
Marapira went further to encourage Zimbabweans to actively look for opportunities within government tenders. He claimed anyone with the right focus could make it and pointed to examples of new businesspeople allegedly succeeding through tenders.
He said every day, new players were rising, regardless of criticism, and some were becoming successful entrepreneurs.
“I encourage people to look for niches within government tenders and find their own slot. You will definitely rise. Every day we see new players stepping up despite the insults, and some are becoming solid business owners. That’s the thing,” Farai Marapira explained.

Public Outrage Over Tender Remarks
After ZiFM Stereo posted the interview clip on X, it sparked a flood of reactions from Zimbabweans. Many disagreed with Marapira, saying the system was unfair and reserved for people connected to the ruling elites. Others argued that bidding was pointless because tenders always seemed to go to ZANU PF-linked businesses.
Here are some of the reactions:
@mujuruja20866:
Tenders are reserved and rigged for Zvigananda.. Companies linked to the ruling elites. Companies of children of the ruling elites.. Only self-funded projects are not rigged in favour of the above class. Fixing high pricing and not delivering should not be encouraged.
@siazyaba:
Why waste time bidding for tenders which we all know will be awarded to Zanu PF supporters
@tawac:
How can one chase tenders when the whole tender process isn’t being followed?
@praiseplp:
He lacks education. It’s like telling a homeless person to go buy a house
@collinvance13:
What tenders??
