Mliswa is set to appear at the Karoi Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, where he faces charges of prospecting for minerals without a licence. Sharing details of his arrest on X, he posted:
“BREAKING!: I have been detained by the ZRP at Magunje Police Station as CG Mutamba and Commissioner Nyazema have gone personal over the Rengwe Conservancy issue. The charge is prospecting for minerals without a licence. I will appear in Court tomorrow.”

His post quickly drew reactions across social media. Some sympathised with him, saying his arrest was politically motivated. Others, however, were more sceptical — questioning how he managed to tweet while in police custody, while a few insisted he should not have been prospecting without the proper licence in the first place.
Here are some of the reactions:

@Dr_Gheo:
The police and judiciary have been captured by Zanu PF. The rule of law is applied selectively. As for you, Temba, you’re Zanu through and through, so you won’t quit. It’s time you make a final decision to stay or to leave; but then we know you will stay to enjoy the gravy train, so pedzeranai ikoko no tears for you.
@thabs_mlotshwa:
You shouldn’t be prospecting without a licence, and mining a specific mineral or metal without its specific permit either, in the first place. They haven’t done anything wrong; you have.
@BhobhoManhuwa:
I listened to your interview, and I said you’ve picked a side, and I knew that there would be trouble in paradise, and imagine I’m not even a politician, imagine the guys vanoswerera izvozvo they would have picked it up.
