This week in history

This week in history marked the death of an English mining magnate and politician in Southern Africa, Cecil John Rhodes. He and his British South Africa Company founded the Southern African territory of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia), which the company named after him in 1895.

Rhodes succumbed to Heart Failure on March 26, 1902 aged 48 at his seaside cottage in Muizenberg, South Africa. He was buried at Wold’s View, a hilltop located approximately 35 Kilometers south of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
