Three people committed suicide in separate incidents on a single day in the small mining town of Karoi.
A Day of Heartbreaking Loss
The series of tragedies began with the death of a local taxi driver in the Chiedza suburb. Reports indicate the individual ingested a poisonous substance. While the precise motivations remain unclear to investigators, preliminary information suggests he was struggling with overwhelming personal challenges. His body was discovered on Tuesday morning.

In the other incident, a woman was found deceased in her home. Neighbours reported that the mother of three had been seen carrying out her morning routine before she was later discovered to have taken her own life. In a third, separate incident that same afternoon, another young woman, a mother to a two-year-old child, also died by suspected suicide.
Official Response and Community Plea
Hurungwe District Police Superintendent, Kezias Karuru, confirmed that investigations into all three cases are actively underway. While details are still emerging, he publicly connected the women’s deaths to suspected drug and substance abuse, a growing crisis in the region.
