Two men have been arrested after three days on the run after bludgeoning a fellow miner to death during a fight.

Law enforcement authorities have successfully captured multiple suspects connected to two separate fatal incidents that shocked local communities this week.

Police investigators have taken into custody two artisanal miners allegedly responsible for a lethal assault at a Kwekwe mining site. The accused individuals, identified as Tinotenda Mushoriwa (35) and Christine Ngwarai (49), reportedly engaged in a physical confrontation with their victim during late hours on July 15.

According to official reports from the Criminal Investigations Department, the altercation turned deadly when the suspects allegedly used wooden logs as weapons, striking the victim’s head with fatal consequences. The suspects immediately fled the scene but were apprehended following an intensive three-day search operation.

In a separate investigation, Karoi detectives made progress in another disturbing case involving the discovery of a nude male corpse in a gum tree plantation near Chinyerere Shops. Police spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Mudewere revealed that crucial information from a community member led to the arrest of two suspects.

“An alert citizen noticed suspicious blood stains while gathering firewood on July 14, which initiated our investigation,” Det Insp Mudewere explained. “Our team subsequently arrested Godfrey Smart (31) and Jorum Rukara (32), who allegedly murdered their drinking companion during a heated argument on July 13 before disposing of the body.”

Police Praise Community Cooperation

Law enforcement officials have emphasised the critical role public cooperation plays in solving serious crimes.
