Two Young British Nationals Jailed for 6 Years Each for Smuggling 66kg of Cannabis into Zimbabwe
Two young British nationals have been sentenced to six years each in Zimbabwean prison after being caught attempting to smuggle over 66kg of cannabis through Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
The pair was arrested on May 1 upon arrival on Ethiopian Airways Flight ET 873. Acting on a tip-off, detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit intercepted the suspects shortly after touchdown. A search of their four suitcases revealed 53 packets of dagga, all tagged with their names.

Heavy Sentence Handed Down in Harare
The Harare Magistrates’ Court convicted and sentenced both Elisha and Simone. Each received a nine-year prison term, with three years suspended. They are now set to serve six years each behind bars in Zimbabwe.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the sentencing and described the conviction as a strong statement against international drug trafficking.
Zimbabwe Sends a Strong Message to Drug Traffickers
In a stern statement, the NPAZ warned would-be traffickers that Zimbabwe will not be used as a corridor for smuggling illicit substances, regardless of the traffickers’ nationality.
“No matter your nationality, the law will catch up with you. Airports are not gateways for crime,” read part of the official statement.
