Warriors coach Michael Nees Backs Khama Billiat- Knowledge Musona Reunion at Scottland FC to Boost AFCON Hopes

Warriors coach Michael Nees has hailed the reunion of Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona at Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Scottland FC, describing it as a major boost for Zimbabwe’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) aspirations.

Billiat recently joined Scottland as a free agent following his departure from Saudi Arabian club Al-Okhdood.

Musona, who also signed for the club this season, will now reignite a partnership with Billiat that has previously powered the Warriors on the international stage.

“I think it’s very good for them to be playing in one team. Scottland FC is a high-level team, they have a lot of top players, they are investing a lot in football.

“Khama and Knowledge’s reunion could be good for our AFCON ambitions, they get to interact more often,” Nees told The Herald.

Proper Farewell for National Heroes

Nees also stressed the importance of honouring the two stars as their international careers near the end.

We need to give them a perfect and proper farewell to their international career and we will give them one,” the Warriors coach pledged.

Musona Chooses Home Over Overseas Offers

Speaking after completing his move, Musona revealed that he turned down offers from overseas clubs to sign with newly promoted Scottland FC.

The forward, who launched his career in South Africa in 2009 before stints with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim and Belgian giants Anderlecht, said the time was right to finally experience domestic football in Zimbabwe.

I have been playing international for the past 17 years, and look, I’m winding up my career. I thought it’s always best to go back home. It’s also a good experience that I have never played in Zimbabwe before, so I thought it’s the best time to come back home and enjoy my last years of football here,” Musona explained.

A Family Dream Realised

Beyond his farewell, Musona highlighted the personal significance of joining Scottland FC — the chance to finally play club football alongside his younger brother Walter.

“I have always wanted to play with him. For the first time, we did play together in the national team, and it was a good feeling because I have always wanted him to be a great player.

I want him to play better than I did, to achieve big things in his career. So I now have an opportunity to push him and help him to do big things and grow his career,” Musona said.
