World Food Program (WFP) Hiring IT Operations Assistants (G5) for Field Offices in Zimbabwe

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is inviting applications for three full-time IT Operations Assistant (G5) positions located in Bulawayo, Masvingo, and Harare Field Offices. The application deadline is 23 July 2025 at 23:59 (GMT+2).

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Field Office, the IT Operations Assistant will support the efficient delivery of IT services by maintaining systems, hardware, telecommunications equipment, and user support. The role also includes system optimization, inventory management, web content updates, and contributing to training and user support functions. These positions are vital to ensuring smooth and secure IT operations at the field level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular system checks, diagnostics, and maintenance.

  • Handle equipment setup, repairs, and configurations with attention to data security.

  • Manage IT inventory and maintain accurate records.

  • Support users through troubleshooting and basic training.

  • Contribute to the installation and operation of server and telecom systems.

  • Suggest process improvements and assist in emergency response operations.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience handling complex technical IT issues.

  • A post-secondary certificate in IT or a related field is desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with client service standards.

  • Fluency in English and local language(s).
