ZIMSEC Announces ZiG Interbank Rate for November 2024 Exam Registration Fees

In a development that is set to bring smiles to guardians and parents of Ordinary and Advanced Level exam students, the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has introduced the option to make payments in the new Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency before the registration deadline.

Originally, ZIMSEC had set the payment and proof of payment submission deadline for the November exams as March 26, 2024. However, ZIMSEC extended the registration period for the November 2024 Examinations until May 17, 2024.

Zimsec Announces ZiG Interbank Rate

In a recent announcement, ZIMSEC has now informed parents and guardians that they can choose to pay registration fees in ZiG from the 10th to the 17th of this month. The payments will be based on the interbank rate of May 10, 2024, to ensure a uniform registration fee for all candidates.

The interbank rate which will be used for payments is ZiG13.52 to 1 USD.

It is important to note that parents and guardians are advised not to make direct payments into ZIMSEC accounts. Instead, payments should be made at the respective schools or centres.

Public Reactions to the Announcement

Following the announcement made by Information Secretary Nick Mangwana, Zimbabweans expressed their opinions on the matter. Some individuals viewed this initiative positively, seeing it as a step towards improving the country, while others raised concerns about the limited timeframe for payments. Here are a few comments:

@IsaacMakomichi:

This one is a nice move cde. I think Zimbabwe is becoming good , panopera gore more policies dzinenge dzaiswa just to make sure kuti nyika inake.

@hustla263:

why does it have to be for only payments btwn 10 and 17 May…why not until the last day of registration…what if I will receive my salary on the 21st…why not just use the interbank rate on the date that I pay for translation purposes…the uniformity reason is nonsense

@AbinalaLloyd:

Hazvibatsire pakati pemwedzi tinenge tisati tatambiri ,This will not help the people of Zimbabwe
