Zimbabwean Criminals Arrested In Johannesburg After Getting Caught Stealing Underground Cables

Two Zimbabwean criminals caused a scene in Johannesburg, South Africa after they were recently arrested for stealing underground cables.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has yet to provide more information on the incident, which occurred at night on 7 August in the Johannesburg Central Business District.

Journalist and anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee confirmed the incident on his X account:

“Two Zimbabwean nationals arrested in the JHB CBD. They were caught red-handed stealing cables underground. #CrimeWatch”

Details of how members of the public caught the two criminals are still catchy. However, pictures circulating on the internet hint at a tip-off.

The two Zimbabweans sneaked into an underground drainage system where they knew there were copper cables. They managed to cut several pieces of the cable.

When the work was done, they carried the underground cables and got the shock of their lives when a group of residents and journalists met them on the surface.

Busted, the two just froze after opening the drainage lid and looked dumbstruck at their cover being blown. The public took the cables the Zimbabwean criminals had stolen and laid them as they waited for the police. The cops later came and threw the thieves into their truck before taking them to the station.
