Elvis Chipezeze Wins Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament at 2024/25 PSL Awards
Magesi FC goalkeeper and captain Elvis Chipezeze has been crowned the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament at the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards.
The Zimbabwean international’s outstanding performances helped Magesi FC claim their first-ever silverware in topflight football.

Chipezeze was nominated in two major categories at the end-of-season PSL awards:

He was up against tough competition, including Sipho Chaine of Orlando Pirates and Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns — the latter being last season’s Goalkeeper of the Season.
Man of the Match Heroics Lead to Cup Glory
The Magesi FC shot-stopper played a crucial role in his club’s historic Carling Black Label Knockout Cup triumph, where they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final.
Chipezeze’s individual brilliance throughout the tournament earned him four Man of the Match awards, including in the decisive final, further cementing his value as a top-tier goalkeeper.
Return to the Warriors Fold
Following his consistent and commanding displays, Chipezeze was recently recalled to the Zimbabwe national team. He featured in the Warriors’ most recent squad that played international friendlies against Burkina Faso and Niger in Morocco in June.
Remarkable Comeback to Topflight Football
Chipezeze has enjoyed a remarkable return to top-tier football, having helped Limpopo-based Magesi FC earn promotion to the DStv Premiership last season.
He quickly became an instrumental figure in the club’s fairytale run, helping them lift their first-ever major trophy — the Carling Knockout Cup.
Notably, he was one of three finalists for the Carling Knockout award, alongside teammate Edmore Chirambadare and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners.
